Add one DNS record to activate DMARC monitoring

This usually takes 5 to 10 minutes. You remain in control of your domain settings, and you do not need to share your DNS password.

Use the exact DMARC value we sent in your setup email. Do not copy a generic value from this page.

What you need to do

Open your DNS settings
Log in to the company where your domain DNS is managed.

Add or update the DMARC TXT record
Use the exact value from your Domain Audit Systems setup email.

Reply when saved
After saving the record, reply to our setup email. We will verify the DNS record and confirm when monitoring is active.

Do not copy a DMARC value from this page. Your setup email contains the correct value for your domain.

Already have a DMARC record?
Do not add a second DMARC record.

If you already see a TXT record named _dmarc, reply to our setup email before changing it. A domain should normally have only one DMARC TXT record.

Text only setup guides

The names may look slightly different depending on your provider. Look for a page called DNS, DNS Records, Advanced DNS, Zone Editor, or Manage DNS.

  2. 2Select your domain.
  3. 3Open DNS.
  4. 4Open Records.
  5. 5Click Add record.
  6. 6Choose TXT as the record type.
  7. 7Set Name to _dmarc.
  8. 8Paste the Value from your setup email.
  9. 9Set TTL to Auto.
  10. 10Save the record.

  2. 2Open your Domain Portfolio.
  3. 3Select your domain.
  4. 4Open DNS.
  5. 5Click Add New Record.
  6. 6Choose TXT.
  7. 7Set Name or Host to _dmarc.
  8. 8Paste the Value from your setup email.
  9. 9Save the record.
  10. 10Reply to our setup email after saving.

  2. 2Open Domain List.
  3. 3Click Manage next to your domain.
  4. 4Open Advanced DNS.
  5. 5Click Add New Record.
  6. 6Choose TXT Record.
  7. 7Set Host to _dmarc.
  8. 8Paste the Value from your setup email into the Value field.
  9. 9Save changes.

  2. 2Go to Settings.
  3. 3Open Domains.
  4. 4Select your domain.

  6. 6Click Manage if shown.
  7. 7Add a custom TXT record.
  8. 8Set Name or Host to _dmarc.
  9. 9Paste the Value from your setup email.

This section applies to Shopify managed domains. If your domain was purchased from another provider such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, or Squarespace, you may need to edit DNS records at that provider instead. Reply to our setup email if you are unsure.

  2. 2Select your domain.
  3. 3Click DNS Settings.
  4. 4Scroll to Custom Records.
  5. 5Click Add record.
  6. 6Choose TXT.
  7. 7Set Name to _dmarc.
  8. 8Paste the Value from your setup email into the Text field.
  9. 9Save the record.
  10. 10Reply to our setup email after saving.
If you do not see DNS Settings, your DNS may be managed by another provider. Reply to our setup email and we will help.

  2. 2Click the Domain Actions icon next to the relevant domain.
  3. 3Select Manage DNS Records.
  4. 4Scroll to the TXT section.
  5. 5Click + Add Record.
  6. 6Set Host Name to _dmarc.
  7. 7Paste the Value from your setup email.
  8. 8Save the record.
  9. 9Confirm Save Changes if prompted.

  9. 9Set TTL to Default if available.
  10. 10Save the record.

What happens next?

DNS changes can take a few minutes to several hours to appear publicly. After you reply to us, we will verify the record and confirm when monitoring is active.

DMARC report data is not instant. The first visible data may appear after receiving mail servers send their aggregate reports, often within 1 to 3 days.
